VEIN REMOVAL

The 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser is a specific type of laser commonly used for a variety of cosmetic and medical procedures, including vein removal. Its name refers to its composition (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) and the wavelength of light it emits (1064 nanometers). This particular wavelength is well-suited for treating veins because it can penetrate deeply into the skin to target blood vessels without causing significant damage to the surrounding tissue.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The process is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis, where a specific wavelength of light is used to target a particular chromophore (in this case, hemoglobin in the blood).

  • Targeting Hemoglobin: The 1064 nm wavelength is strongly absorbed by hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that gives blood its red color

  • Heat Generation: When the laser light is absorbed by the hemoglobin, it rapidly heats the blood within the targeted vein.

  • Vessel Collapse: This heat damages the inner lining of the blood vessel, causing it to coagulate and collapse.

  • Body Absorption: Over time, the treated and now-collapsed vein is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body. The blood flow is redirected to healthy, surrounding veins.

  • Cooling Technology: Many devices that use this laser have an integrated cooling system to protect the surface of the skin and minimize discomfort during the procedure.

VEIN REMOVAL BENEFITS:

This type of laser treatment has become a popular option for treating unwanted veins due to a number of benefits:

  1. Non-Invasive: It is a non-surgical procedure that doesn't require incisions or injections, which means less risk and a faster recovery.

  2. Minimal Discomfort and Downtime: Most patients experience only a mild stinging or prickling sensation during the treatment. There is typically no downtime, and patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.

  3. Safety for Different Skin Tones: Compared to other lasers, the 1064 nm wavelength is less absorbed by melanin (skin pigment). This makes it a safer option for a wider range of skin tones, including darker skin types, with a lower risk of pigmentation changes or burns

  4. Precision: The laser can be precisely directed at the targeted veins, minimizing damage to the surrounding skin and tissue.

This service can be used on veins that are located on the body and telangiectasias on the face. Patients with rosacea typically have telangiectasias (small blood vessels/capillaries) located along the cheeks and midface causing their skin's appearance to have a more flushed/red tone.

DERMAL FILLER

Dermal fillers restore volume and are used to correct wrinkles and soft tissue loss due to aging. They are injected into the superficial layers of the skin and are most commonly used in the smile lines, lips and corners of the mouth.
